Sarah
This is Sarah, she is ten years old and one of the original four wolves. She is a mated adult female and most of the wolves in the facility are her children. Sarah was the alpha female for about eight years, until her second litter (The Brat Pack) grew up and displaced her. Now she is somewhere in the middle of the totem pole. Physically she is the toughest female out there hands down, but she no longer has the will to be alpha. Now she mostly sticks to herself in her corner where she’s sometimes known to fend off the entire Brat Pack; she truly is an old battle axe.

Sarah is the hardest wolf to gain trust from and very weary of humans, especially men. Sarah used to be more human friendly, and let almost everyone scratch her belly. As a result she became very attached to many people who have left and never come back, and as a defense mechanism she has become very hard to get close to. Women have a better chance of a good response from her. Beneath the tough exterior though Sarah is a sweetheart and if you can gain her trust she will open up to you. She loves to lick your face and get belly scratches but even if she has come up to you in the past, there is no guarantee she will again. Sarah is a very kind hearted wolf, but also a very stubborn wolf, and will not let most people get very close. The way to her heart is definitely through treats, and if you make a special effort to do something for her she will recognize that.

As you can see, her color is mostly gray, with some areas more white and some more black. Arctic wolves do not necessarily have to be white; they are just more likely to be. Sarah was born jet black but over the years has aged and grayed out just like Shylee.

We are always looking for new female volunteers and interns to befriend Sarah; she hates men but needs a friend. If you are interested in meeting her, contact the Wolfkeep and ask about possible volunteer and internship opportunities. See the "About us" section for more information.
