Shylee
This is Miss Shylee, she is also one of the original four and our only gray wolf. Shylee is ten years old and her origins can be traced back to the Bob Marshall Wilderness in NW Montana. Her grandparents were trapped by some locals about fifteen years ago and they bred them, so she is an F2. Shylee is one of the pack mammas and as of right now sort of shares the alpha female position with Mariah, but that could change anytime.

Shylee is one of the most human friendly animals in the facility. She loves almost everyone, especially females. But she is also very shy and doesn’t always feel comfortable approaching people. She was named Shylee because of this behavior, and as much as she loves people she rarely will draw near if there is more than one person in the enclosure. But when she does approach, she will let you pet her for hours while she intensely licks your face. Even with us, she is always alert when we are petting her, and jumps away if someone moves too quickly. Shylee is more likely to bond with females, but she responds well towards anyone who puts in the time and effort to make her feel special. She is such an interesting animal, and after all of these years she is still so cautious towards people.

Shylee was born jet black, but over the years has turned gray just like human hair does. Right now her ears, sides and hind legs are dark gray and the rest of her body is light grayish white. Being the only gray wolf in the facility you can really see the difference between her and the other wolves when you get close.

Shylee is a shy and gentle soul whom you can always trust, and is usually one of the favorites among volunteers. Just look at how adorable she is! If you are interested in meeting Shylee contact the Wolfkeep and ask about possible volunteer or internship positions available. See the "About us" section for more information.
